First, when it comes to cleaning dust, Taz allows users to use a high-pressure cleaner to remove dirt, including from the cams. The grease inside the cam’s moving axis will not be damaged. We also allow the use of alcohol for cleaning. You can also use a knife or scraper blade: be careful not to damage the cleat and handle, which are made of plastic.
Another important point is to maintain the movement of the pin inside the spring chamber.
To prevent paint or other products from sticking to the plates or cams, it is not recommended to cover the parts with any material that could damage the friction of the rope. Our tools need friction. Water or alcohol do not damage friction, unlike silicone.
Cleaning with gasoline is also permitted, but dry thoroughly and clean a second time with alcohol to prevent any contact between the gasoline and the strings.
When finished and before reusing the equipment, ensure that the cams move freely (by operating the lever) and that the cleat and push button also move freely.
